    From HORSES OF JUDAH BEN-HUR.

This body of work focuses on the serendipitous relationship between what is real and unreal. Our understanding as humans can be limited because of reason. We are fixed by the level of knowledge in our limited timespans, swayed by logic in a pattern with reasons and flawed assumptions pushing us towards compliance of a certain form of thinking and behaviour. Our imagination could be unlimited allowing us to re-interpret our notions of reality. Hence these works try to investigate the true boundaries of our imagination. Can what is real and unreal function congruently or independently while we test the limits of our limited imagination. Or does it become unlimited as we depart from the tension formed by our reason.

Here images were altered only to bring out the essence of this understanding. Colours were chosen that defy the physical attributes and the meaningfulness relies on the imagination of the viewer. Colours were chosen to inject spirit into the work which translates a feeling not apparent within the image as it may appear. Over time imagery may decay, hence the choice of colours were critical to remain fresh forever. On closer observation you will notice the construction of the artwork was done in layers and the choice of colours changed several times till an equipoise was achieved. What do these images represent – is it the lines and colours that they wear, or is the truth far away from the realities as we know them.

This is a clear contradiction of our longing to believe what we have been hitherto programmed, we now move towards a more mythical and more real new world. Will this movement from the traditional to anomalous be smooth or will there be a conflict between reason and imagination.

Can we see through the chaos to the beauty that reposes within. Perhaps we can separate what is in front of us tangibly to what it’s meant to communicate. Perhaps we as humans have stopped evolving and have stagnated at the present stage for too long. Or perhaps we now see more clearly, finally see through our hearts and spirits.

Judah Ben-Hur’s four horses were all white, here in these art works the fantasy is far clearer than reality. We used to accept our truths so easily and with our undying faith on evidence while we may lose out to gain joyfulness. These works attempts to change all that.

Ben-Hur is a 1959 American epic historical drama film directed by William Wyler. It was a massive production with over 200 camels and 2,500 horses were used in the shooting of the film, with some 10,000 extras. MGM opened a casting office in Rome in mid-1957 to select from the 50,000 people who would act in minor roles and as extras in the film, and a total of 365 actors had speaking parts in the film, although only 45 of them were considered "principal" performers.
