We want good health, happiness, wealth, comfort, warmth – all this all the time . These do not exist in their singularity. With happiness there could be sadness, with great health you may have poverty, with great talent there could be loneliness, with great success there may be missed opportunities. We have to embrace the good with the bad. Let’s not spend our entire life trying to solve all problems and then start living. The difficulties in life make us appreciate our environment and the gifts we possess a lot more. Through difficulties comes great opportunities, great happiness and contentment. There is a balance in life, and once we accept the presence of difficulties then we can fully enjoy the gift of life. This artwork attempts to portray just that. The iron like, evil looking black sharp edge looks pretty intimidating and ominous – signifying all the troubles which life serves us. But through them all we have great happiness and opportunities, and amazing beauty which is depicted in the plant-like formations in a symbolic way where the darkness is evil, and colours are life, finally to reach full blossom with the Bird of Paradise. Live. Love. Covers a large spectrum of my emotions. The trees symbolize stability (strength), colours (diversity) and the trees look after each other (solidarity). The thick foliage represents abundance of beauty, the strong branches the resilience. The alpha tree has a flat top – like a plateau strong enough the hold the mighty heavens. The three layers of mountains start in the opposite order - dark first, then mid tones and then the crystalline formations. All this is done while alternating between what is fact and what is fiction. All this to signify that love and beauty emerge to warm the universe. The artwork shines when light is applied on it and gives it a 3D feel. The separate canvasses are for visual effect. Most works of horses are to show strength, speed or beauty. In this case Bucephalus is being shown in a contracting manner to show his confidence. He has been depicted here almost as great and regal as his master. He was with one of the most powerful and ambitious humans who has ever lived. The careless mane thrown on his neck in bright contrasts shows his disregard to smaller things sees himself as an elitist being which is shown by his calm yet alert eyes. Reminiscent of assurance.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBucephalus or Bucephalas was the horse of Alexander the Great, and one of the most famous horses of antiquity. Hence the composition for Cristo Rei was critical. \u003cbr\u003e The face with all the colours show fortitude, the highly complex facial expression lends an intensely positive impression that is redolent of emotion, while the hands tell a story of compassion and glory. Christ the Redeemer was altered so much, that you find elements of both realism and fantasy develop and then disintegrate before your eyes. \u003cbr\u003e We may observe the lines the clothes make, it’s like a cradle which cups the heart which is one of the focal points of the painting. If you complete the circle formed by the arcs of the clothes the centre is the face of Cristo. We get inspired by anything unique and touching. We firmly believe in getting that unexpected, allowing for uniqueness and intrigue to lead the creation of a piece of art work. He harbours a deep affection and loyalty toward his subjects, which was most prominent when he willingly leaves his homeland in search of a new water source for the Pride Lands. He was a peacemaker, but could also be firm in his decisions and orders. Many animals look up to him for his bravery and strength, but will occasionally overlook him because of his peaceful nature. He was ultimately selfless and quite intelligent in his own regard.\u003cbr\u003eDuring Mohatu's rule, a drought grips the Pride Lands, which prompts him to put in a place a law that limits how much each animal can drink from the waterhole as well as what order the animals can drink in. Since lions could survive the longest without it, Mohatu decrees that they drink last. For a while, this law works, but not everyone is happy with is. One lion in particular (who bears an uncanny resemblance to Scar,) completely blows the king off and drinks from the waterhole whenever he wants, attacking the other animals when they come near. Not wanting to resort to violence, Mohatu searches for another source of water and comes across what is widely believe to be the same oasis that Timon and Pumbaa would take residence in later on down the generations.\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMohatu was a wise and gentle king. He could've easily chased off the smaller, scrawnier self lion, but preferred a peaceful alternative, even if it required more effort.\u003cbr\u003e“Good night, great-grandfather. I hope I grow up to be just like you.”\u003cbr\u003e―Simba to Mohatu's star\u003cbr\u003eIn the beginning of The Brightest Star, Simba spots a particularly big and bright star in the night sky. There is such a mix and I tried to stitch it all together in perfect synchronicity. I went on to placing these brush strokes and adding glazes to them to add to the depths and contrasts, giving the viewer a sense of motion from within the image combining the colours and movements. I had paused the work when I did not find the path I was seeking, but thankfully it slowly came back, and I finished it when I collected my thoughts. It’s a creative process which at times makes me loose myself in my work. Some colours are deliberately made stronger and some hushed and it was not done in any sudden intuitive way. For a very long time we simply saw ourselves as the only creatures with emotions, discernment and values. We later found out that so many these behaviours which we considered exclusive to the human race actually are actually evident in some animals. However as homosepians we are such complex beings and the only being which can look at ourselves in the third person. Unlike other beings we can reflect and analyse deeply on our past actions and responsiveness along with the reaction of our environment. What’s typical of us? Because of our complex emotions and feelings, I often feel most everyone is off centre and in varying degrees. And that’s so beautiful. Sometimes I wonder which is the centre or is it just fluid and constantly moving as we evolve. I was seeking to bring out the expressions of happiness and delight, of power with grace, of emotion with joy and elation and simply amply it. So when I paint a tree I do not want to paint the details, but rather capture its serenity instead of just a direct portrayal. I made it full of colours and emotions in an attempt to realize Nature’s beauty. When I bend reality I disconnect and eliminate parts of the scene to observe the main elements in isolation. With the elimination of distractions, I attempt to create more drama and exaggerate the true essence of the scene though my own composition. This work is my way of paying tribute to this wonderful world around us. Water and reflection fascinate me, so much of calmness and purity. Colours are a must-have for most of my paintings.
